Happiness Is Just A Bath Away…

According to a study conducted by Dr Richard Tunney of the University of Nottingham, baths are one of the activities that makes us the most happy, along with chocolate and afternoon naps. Sometimes, the simplest things in life are the ones that are the most beneficial. So get the water running and soak in a long warm bath. Happiness is that easy to reach.

Most of us take a daily shower, but how many people actually take a daily bath? Well, you’ll be surprised how much a bath could change your life. Baths have been taken since ancient times. Since then, they haven’t changes much- yes, the tub is modern and the hot water runs directly from the faucet- but the essential feeling and benefits of taking a bath has remained the same.

How can a bath impact health?

Baths are important due to a few reasons. First, a bath cleanses the body, relaxes the muscles and energizes the whole body.  Yet the effect of a good bath is not limited only to the body, but it also affects the mind. Whenever you have trouble sleeping just drew a quick bath, then soak in it for half an hour, and enjoy a calm and relaxed night sleep. Sometimes, in hot summer nights, a cold bath is the only thing that will get the heat down and help you get some sleep.

The benefits of baths are numerous, starting with relaxation of body and mind, as mentioned above, but also calming arthritis pains, increasing blood circulation, softening the skin (when adding moisture to the water) and more.

How to take a proper bath?

Taking a bath may be simple, but there are some steps to take in order to fully enjoy the benefits of a good bath. First, rinse your body with clean water, and then scrub the skin with a good quality salt scrub, such as the Relaxing Salt Scrub with Peach & Honey Oil by Jericho, to degrease the skin and remove dirt. Wash it off with cold clean water. Now add some bath salts and fill the tub with warm water. Soak in for as long as you want, preferably at least 20 minutes. You can light up some candles for the mood and even put on some music, to enjoy it to the fullest.

Surprisingly, water washes away the natural moisture of the skin. That is why it so important to first add bath salts, essential oils or mineral bubble bath to the water; and second, rub a rich body cream afterwards.

Make baths parts of your beauty routine. Add different scents and salts to the water to create variety and interest. Share a bath with your life partner to enjoy a romantic experience together. You can even have a milk bath, like Cleopatra used to have, by just adding one gallon of milk to the warm bathwater and soak in it! Your skin will look supple and soft (just don’t forget to scrub it before your soak).

Jericho Skin Care Tip: Have an oil massage before taking a bath, which will make the body supple, relieve stiffness of muscles, relaxation from tiredness and tension, and increase blood circulation.
